I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee- surrounded by rolling, grassy hills and beautiful dogwood trees. The neighbors to our right had horses, and the first time I laid eyes on them, I fell in love. I was inexplicably drawn to their beauty, their grace, their magnificence, their gentleness . . . and the way they always seemed to know when you needed them.
When the neighbor offered to give me riding lessons, I jumped on the opportunity. The first horse I ever rode in a formal lesson was named Misty. She was the epitome of a true lesson horse- calm, gentle, and slow, although, she could be naughty at times- especially when I was learning to steer!
I loved spending time with Misty, I could brush her for hours. As I progressed in my riding, learning to steer, post the trot, and eventually, canter- I felt like I was flying. I lived for that feeling, when nothing else mattered, except for me and Misty.
I started Belle Amie Riding Academy, because I wanted to give other children the chance to experience that feeling. At Belle Amie, your kids will gain confidence in themselves, learn leadership skills, and make life long friends. Riding lessons were the best gift my mother ever gave me- being around horses enriched my life in so many ways.
Every child deserves the magical moment of falling in love with a horse. Come experience the Belle Amie difference.
